Privacy Policy — Wordmemo Translate
Effective date: 8 October 2026
This privacy policy covers collection, handling, storage, and sharing of user data by the Wordmemo Translate browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari).
Collection: data we collect
When you use Wordmemo Translate, the extension collects the following user data:
- Text you select or type, including the text of a page when you ask for a full-page translation.
- The source language and the target language.
- The translation result.
- An optional Wordmemo account token, if you connect a Wordmemo account.
- Settings you choose: language, translation provider, theme, and font size.
The extension content script runs on pages you visit so it can read the text you choose to translate. That selected text is user data. The extension does not collect your browsing history, and the page URL is not sent.
Handling: how we use it
We handle this data only to provide the features you use:
- To translate the text you select, type, or ask the extension to translate.
- To speak that text when you play audio.
- To show your translation history in the extension.
- To save a word to Wordmemo when you ask to save it.
We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Storage: how we store it
Translation history is stored in chrome.storage.local on your device. It stays on the device until you clear it. History is not deleted automatically.
Settings (language, translation provider, theme, and font size) and the Wordmemo account token are stored in chrome.storage.sync. That storage syncs with your browser account.
You can clear translation history in the extension. You can remove the Wordmemo token from the extension at any time.
